Never Let Me Go
Never Let Me Go (2010)
Starring: Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield, and Keira Knightley
Directed by: Mark Romanek
Grade: A-
This movie is a very, very sad movie. And also very odd. Kathy, Tommy, and Ruth go to a boarding school in England. Everyone at this boarding school is a clone and, someday, is going to make three "donations", which means they will donate their organs, blood, or some other part of their body. Kathy loves Tommy, but Ruth gets jealous, so she steals Tommy away. They are together from childhood through teenage years, when the kids are sent into the "real world" to await their donation times. But, as soon as Tommy realizes his love for Kathy, he is expected to make a donation. I hadn't seen Carey Mulligan in anything, but I thought she was amazing. I had seen Andrew Garfield in The Social Network and thought he was stunning in this movie. And, of course, Keira Knightley is very famous, my favorite movie of hers is Pride and Prejudice. But she was very good in this movie as well. Just, prepare yourself: it is a sad movie.
